If you can, please join us on Sunday evening, October 19, as we honor two sons of St. John the Baptist Church in Canonsburg who spent many years serving the Orthodox Church in America. Metropolitan Theodosius served as Metropolitan of the OCA from 1977 to 2002, and Fr. Paul Lazor, his cousin, served for many years on the faculty of St. Vladimir’s Theological Seminary.
On the evening of Oct. 19, the fifth anniversary of Metropolitan Theodosius’s repose, we will have a Panikhida at St. John’s at 5:00 pm, followed by a light reception and a 6:30 pm talk by Alexis Liberovsky, who served as Archivist and Historian of the Orthodox Church in America from 1988 to 2025. Mr. Liberovsky will be speaking about the service to the Orthodox Church by these two important leaders, both of whom reposed in 2020.
For those who are interested, there will also be a Panikhida served at his grave at the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City at 11:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Everyone is welcome to join us as we honor these two leaders of our Church and learn about their ministries. A flyer describing the event is attached.
