In October 2007, a simple print of a copy of the miraculous Iveron Icon of the Theotokos – nothing special in itself, just a paper print, but a reminder that God can work great miracles through the humblest of things – began to weep fragrant myrrh at the Russian parish in Honolulu, Hawaii. Since then, it continues to miraculously weep myrrh (fragrant oil), and has visited over a thousand parishes around the country, testifying to the love and mercy of our God, as well as the prayers of His Holy Mother. The beautiful smell completely fills a church after being in it for just minutes. Elder Ephraim of Arizona (+2019) said about the Hawaiian Icon: “Icons are windows to heaven, but what is significant is this window has been left open: grace comes freely from heaven through this Holy Icon.” Our parish was previously blessed to welcome this icon of Our Lady in Sept. 2022, and she was last in the area in July. Now, she is coming again.
There will be three opportunities to come and pray to our Lord and His Mother before this precious Icon:
- Tuesday, May 20, at the Monastery, from 8:30am to 4:30pm (services we will be offered at various times, but not on any particular schedule; the faithful are invited to come during the day, at their convenience)
- Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration
- 321 Monastery Ln, Ellwood City, PA 16117, USA
- and at St. Basil’s in Belle Vernon at 6:30pm.
- St. Basil the Great Russian Orthodox Church
- 1449 Ridge Rd, Belle Vernon, PA 15012
- Then, she will be coming to our parish at 9:00am on Wednesday, May 21. Please come to one of these opportunities, if you can: the grace present through this icon of the Mother of God is so very clear, yet so very profound. May she bless us all!
- St John the Baptist Orthodox Church
- 601 Boone Ave, Canonsburg, PA 15317
