Hello Church Family,
Glory to Jesus Christ!
We hope that you have marked TOMORROW, Tuesday, Sept. 10 on your calendar to hear Dr. Daniel Hinshaw speak about the life and ministry of Romanian priest Fr. Roman Braga (1922-2015). Fr. Roman suffered in some of the most brutal Communist prison camps, where the authorities tried to make him and other young men into compliant agents of the Communist state. By the grace of God he survived, and in 1972 he arrived in the United States. After serving in various parishes, he became the priest at Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Ellwood City, PA, and later at Holy Dormition Monastery in Rives Junction, MI. His compassion and holiness were apparent to all who met him.
Dr. Hinshaw was recently interviewed by Fr. Tom Soroka on Ancient Faith Today Live about his new book, Journey to Simplicity: The Life and Wisdom of Archimandrite Roman Braga. For a preview of next Tuesday’s presentation, you can listen to the interview here.
Please join us, if you can, at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 601 Boone Ave., Canonsburg, PA 15317. Vespers begins at 6 pm, followed by some light refreshments. The presentation will begin at 7 pm.
Please share this email with your favorite history buffs and bring a friend!
In Christ,
Rdr. John Thompson
